Bud is a character in Mother 3. He can often be found practicing comedy routines with Lou.

In Mother 3

Lou and Bud practice a routine based off of traditional Japanese stand-up comedy known as manzai, in which Bud plays the Boke or "funny man". Their comedy routines follow the same pattern, which is talking about a random subject, making a pun with it, and then Lou proceeds to smack Bud on the head, followed by a simultaneous bow performed by both of them, as a two-key tune is heard. They can first be seen performing in Chapter 1 during the search for Hinawa, Lucas, and Claus.

In Chapter 4, Lou and Bud begin working at the Factory, quitting their comedy routine. Speaking to them reveals they nearly forgot they did it in the first place because it was so long ago.

When the Factory is closed down in Chapter 8, Bud moves to New Pork City along with Lou. They begin practicing their comedy routine once again.

Name origin

In the Mother 3 fan translation, Lou was named after William "Bud" Abbot of the Abbott and Costello comedy duo. His original Japanese name, Entotsu, is a play on a Japanese manzai comedian named Yokoyama Entatsu.
