The Insecticide Spray, abbriviated as simply Insecticide in EarthBound Beginnings and referred to as Bug Spray in the Mother 3 fan translation, is a battle item found in every game of the EarthBound series. It has an improved version, the Super Spray in EarthBound Beginnings and the Xterminator spray in EarthBound.
Usage
In EarthBound Beginnings
When used in battle, it will instantly defeat all arthropod-based enemies, which include BionicCentis, BionicScorps Centipedes, Flies, Scorpions, Spiders and Tarantulas. It has a 12.5% chance of breaking after being used.
The Super Spray (スーパースプレー Super Spray) has the same effect, however it can be used an infinite amount of times.
In EarthBound
The Insecticide spray can now only be used once. It deals 50~150 damage to all insect enemies, and has a luck/80 chance to miss.
The Xterminator spray (スーパースプレー Super Spray) deals 100~300 points of damage to all insect enemies, with a miss rate of Luck/80, and can be used an unlimited amount of times.
In Mother 3
In Mother 3 the item is referred to as the Bug Spray (ムシムシキラー Bug Bug Killer). It can only be used once and will instantly defeat all insect enemies.
