Hippo Launchers are enemies in Mother 3, encountered in the Hippo Pool in the Empire Porky Building. They can also be seen earlier in the Chimera Laboratory, where a researcher boasts it is his greatest invention yet. Hippo Launchers have higher HP when they are encountered in the water, though they also have a larger DP gain. They have a 3% chance of dropping the best defensive charm, the Thud Charm.

According to signs placed around the Hippo Pool, Hippo Launchers are popular, and studies are being done to create household pet versions of them.
