The Ruler is a reusable gag item found in both EarthBound Beginnings and EarthBound.
Usage
The Ruler's only purpose is to measure things, which serves no virtual function. In EarthBound Beginnings it can only be used on the overworld, while in EarthBound it can be used both on the overworld and in battle.
In EarthBound the New Age Retro Hippie can occasionally waste turns using the Ruler in battle. In the Monkey Cave a monkey will ask for a Ruler in order to advance.
