Lilliput Steps is a cave near Happy Happy Village, found in the game EarthBound. The people of Happy Happy Village refer to it as a "non-blue place". It is the second sanctuary in the game, with its boss being Mondo Mole.

This dungeon uniquely does not open any mandatory locations and as such can be challenged later in the game.

Layout

The entrance to the cave from Happy Happy Village is on the south west side. Many ponds are found in this cave. The path through the cave begins by going up, then diagonally down and right. There are several forks leading to items, while the southeast path will soon turn north. As it goes north the path splits into two around the pond, then merge as it turns west. As it continues west it will wind around two ponds and past a Magic Butterfly, then move north and east. Two paths can be used as it goes east, then reach the Sanctuary Guardian.

History

During the events of the game, the Mondo Mole has taken possession of one of the Eight Melodies. As such Ness must traverse through the dungeon to obtainthe melody of Lilliput Steps. He is confronted by the Mondo Mole who guards the melody of Lilliput Steps, however he successfully defeats it and is able to record the melody onto his Sound Stone.

Upon learning the Sanctuary's melody, Ness envisions himself when he was a baby, describing the moment as seeing a baby in ared cap.
