Couldn't we organize this more? Maybe we could split it into Mother 3, Earthbound, and Mother enemy templates, and split those into boss and regular enemy templates. Or we could just omit this template altogether. RamblinEvilMushroom 11:56, 31 October 2010 (MDT)

I was actually thinking that we should probably just have a navigation template for bosses, and then for regular enemies, just put it in Category:EarthBound enemies (and so on). The navigation template would get way too huge if we had regular enemies in it.
And naturally, we would organize this more, lol. →Tinā δ 12:42, 31 October 2010 (MDT)
Good isea. RamblinEvilMushroom 13:17, 31 October 2010 (MDT)

Organization

So when can we organize this some more? I'd like to just categorize regular enemies into their respective categories, corresponding to the game that they appear in. A navigation template for even the regular enemies split up into games would still be really big, so a category should do just fine.

And then for bosses... I think that would warrant a navigation template. Template:Mother bosses, Template:EarthBound bosses and Template:Mother 3 bosses? For EB sanctuary guardians could go in there and just be under their own header (I'm not sure how else to word this... :S). Hmm.

I'd just really like to organize the enemies soon, since everything's all over the place right now. →Tinā δ 10:00, 7 November 2010 (MST)

Individual navigational templates containing the enemies in each game would work best in my opinion. Metroid King Ω 12:58, 7 November 2010 (MST)
I'd say that there are too many enemies for navigational templates, even if divided by game. A 13:21, 7 November 2010 (MST)
Ok then... So just categorize then like Tina suggested? Metroid King Ω 14:03, 7 November 2010 (MST)
Depends on what she says. I'd like to see what everybody thinks. Besides, she has more authority than me on the decision. A 15:38, 8 November 2010 (MST)
I can't really think of another way this could be organized... of course now that I think about it, maybe not a navigation template for bosses, and just give them a category? Outside of the sanctuary guardians the bosses aren't really all that related to each other, outside of being... bosses. (And there's only like, 3 bosses in M1. Seems kind of pointless to make a navigation template out of that, but *shrug*) Hmmmmm. I'll still wait for someone else to say something before I go ahead and re-organize the enemies, though. →Tinā δ 16:32, 8 November 2010 (MST)
I would have to agree that listing them like this on each page is unruly; we already have seventy enemies listed and there are many many more left for Earthbound alone. It's also really distracting on the page (the box doesn't automatically resize and doesn't pay attention to the margins of the Enemy Info box, at least on webkit browsers) at the moment. Adding just a regular category box means that in one click users could access all relevant enemies, but I'd specify enemies in Mother, Earthbound, Mother 3, etc. Just my thought, since I'm entering a lot of the enemy data right now. Iamnotapipe 06:55, 15 November 2010 (MST)
Not sure what you mean by category box- explain? :O And yeah, definitely going to separate enemies by game. →Tinā δ 08:50, 15 November 2010 (MST)
Sorry to nest these comments, I was unclear: remove the box listing all of the enemies, and just include the regular link to the Category:Enemies page.Iamnotapipe 08:59, 15 November 2010 (MST)
Personally, i prefer each page to have a navigation template as i find those easier to use then Categories. However, i am not knocking the usefulness of categories. I am just saying, we need to use both for both types of navigators. Tacopill 10:25, 15 November 2010 (MST).
If there needs to be a navigation template, it would be best if we could organize them into subcategories, such as by location or even by type (the Earthbound Database online is great about splitting them up into animal, robot, etc) and separate out bosses. More importantly, if the navigation template is to be kept it really needs to be adjusted so that it doesn't show up below the other templates (esp. the Enemy Infobox). Iamnotapipe 12:32, 15 November 2010 (MST)
How would adjusting the template itself affect where it is located on a page that uses it? Are you saying put the navigation template above the infobox? Tacopill 12:55, 15 November 2010 (MST).
I see what you mean-- on smaller monitors with Webkit browsers, the navigation template "runs into" the infobox. There's a coding fix for this, I know...
Seperating them up by robot/animal/etc actually sounds like a pretty good idea! I know in M3 they do give official "types" for enemies, although I forget if they're used 'officially' in EB0/EB. Location also sounds like a viable idea. →Tinā δ 13:02, 15 November 2010 (MST)

Split by game

Yes? Agreed? Miles (talk) 14:13, 25 January 2011 (MST)

A single template for each game would still be kind of big, I'd think... but there's always a hide button, so. Yeah, time to stop putting off the task that's revising the enemies section and split this up. :P →Tinā δ 14:31, 25 January 2011 (MST)
After reading through your neat little discussion from the previous year, I've decided to support Iamnotapipe on this as I think it would be easier to organize it that way (I'm referring to the use of subcategories). I've seen Zelda Wiki making it work with relatively vague distinguishing features, and if the ones in M3 even do have official types, then it'd just ease the process even more! The enemies in M1 and 2 can be a bit more tough though, but there are surely some qualities which you can categorize them after in a relatively even manner; like being humanoids, plants, inanimate objects, etc. I mean, even with the hide button, wouldn't it look messy with 50+ titles in one navigation box? :0 ~ Sun Braid 15:02, 25 January 2011 (MST)

I just went and made Template:M1Enemies and Template:EBEnemies, and I agree they're unhelpfully large at the moment. However, if we were to sort them by area they were introduced in, it wouldn't be so clunky. Miles (talk) 15:14, 25 January 2011 (MST)
