before replacing gifs, just letting you know that I replaced loads of earthbound gifs in the same format as you, except having "sprite" in lowercase. Thanks Results May Vary (talk) 18:40, 9 September 2020 (UTC)

The Mother models are papier-mâché models, not clay

Hey! I just wanted to let you know that the models created for the first two Mother games are not actually made out of clay, but are rather papier-mâché models. This is confirmed by the Encyclopedia Mother book, which states as such in the model maker's artist profile in the enemy section. Here is the factoid on Twitter: https://twitter.com/obscuremother/status/1660035719027474434 And here is the mentioned artist profile in the Encyclopedia Mother book, translated from Japanese by Kenisu3000: https://kenisu3000.blogspot.com/2022/12/encyclopedia-mother-list-of-enemy.html?m=1 NintenBOUND (talk) 15:01, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

To be honest, I'm not buying it. Paper Mache simply does not look like that, and I am dubious about trusting a seemingly random Blogspot article about it. It also wouldn't line up with other Nintendo products at the time, such as the front cover of Nintendo Power with Mario, Pikmin 2's promotional material, or Super Mario Bros. 2 in general. Furthermore, during the Mother 1+2 event, there were multiple clay figures posted and those in attendance seemed to verify they were indeed clay. Unless a more concrete source emerges saying otherwise, I think keeping them as clay models is the most appropriate course of action. Trig - 15:13, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

I found mention of the Mother 1 & 2 models both being papier-mâché on the website Mother Forever, which links to Kenisu's translation of the Encyclopedia Mother review I mentioned earlier. But when I copied the Japanese text from the Internet Archive and put it through Google Translate, It said it actually was "paper clay". When I researched that, it turned out it was actually a mix of toilet paper, joint compound, PVA glue, 2 tablespoons mineral oil, and white flour. So either the Google translation was shoddy, or now I have a third option: maybe we should call it paper clay? (this would also explain why the models' surfaces are so smooth.) JPEG and JPG

I uploaded an image recently, but I forgot to shorten .jpeg to .jpg. I am sorry if this is an inconvenience for you, and I will try to rectify this in the future. I do not know how to alter the file so it displays .jpg instead. The file in question is this one: https://wikibound.info/wiki/File:LINDBLOMBOOK.jpeg NintenBOUND (talk) 17:20, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

When on the upload file screen itself, click the "Destination filename:" section and it will let you change how that name is displayed on the site. I would urge renaming files to be clear and concise about what they display. For things like EarthBound 64, I would name the file "E64 (Thing you're showing).jpg" or something similar like that. Andrew DeRouin

Hello! I am currently working on a page detailing the famous "TK-69" Earth Bound cart that Neo Demiforce dumped on the internet back in 1998. I found this image from Gamerant's article (which discussed the Mother to Earth documentary), which features a still shot of the current owner of the cart, Andrew DeRouin, holding the TK-69 cartridge from the documentary: https://static0.gamerantimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/6-Andrew-DeRouin-holding-the-TK-69-cart-of-Mother-from-Mother-to-Earth-2.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=1500&dpr=1.5 Can I use this in my created page? Or would it not suit the wiki's policy? Thank you for your time. NintenBOUND (talk) 01:16, 10 September 2023 (UTC)

(On a side note, I am also in the process of creating a page centered around the EarthBound fan community. I have been uploading logos from fan projects/documentaries to post on the page, but you have taken some of them down, like the Mother to Earth and EarthBound 64 Experience logos. While I understand this (sorry about that), can you explain why the images like the EarthBound, USA logo and the 1999-2005 Starmen.Net page that I uploaded are still ok? Not understanding the exceptions to the rule, the outlines of the policy, and what qualifies as "fan-art". How are fan logos considered fan-art when using them to illustrate specific fan-made projects or products? Thanks again.) NintenBOUND (talk) 01:16, 10 September 2023 (UTC)

The TK-69 nice cart seems pretty cool, just make sure you use the sanitized version of that link (here) so you actually get the full size version of the image.
As for the fan community page, I have already left a talk page as to why I don't think it deserves to be covered. Your scope would be infinitely broad and covers unofficial content which conflates with the rest of the wiki being for factual information. They're deleted for being fan art because simply put I do not see any significant merit in documenting fan art to begin with. Any and all game releases that are major enough to have a wiki for them are going to have fanbases, it seems erroneous to assume that EarthBound's might be more or less significant/dedicated than things like Advance Wars, Animal Crossing, Tetris, or Undertale. What makes a fan creation significant enough to be documented here? Who is the judge of that? It is just too broad of a topic. Trig Jegman - 05:32, 10 September 2023 (UTC)

I apologize. I've just been impressed by the enormous (and admirable) amount of fan dedication and perseverance in the EarthBound fan community and I wanted to show a little bit of that in a page covering the most popular works in the EarthBound fan community. I've noticed that the franchise in general has somewhat of an under-dog quality to it, and few unrecognized franchises have mounted such extreme and devoted campaigns, videos, and projects in order to grab the world's attention to get the franchise respect and recognition. I felt that the fanbase's hard work made it somehow stand out from the fanbases of other franchises like Super Mario, Zelda, or even Pikmin, who (frequently) get new titles in their franchises, leaving their respective fanbases not having much in the way of touting their already recognizable brands and games. Thanks for your time. NintenBOUND (talk) 15:40, 10 September 2023 (UTC) (P.S. Thanks for okaying the Andrew DeRouin image. I can't seem to upload it though, as when I try to save this on my Mac, it converts it to an avif file, which the wiki does not support. Any fixes for this? Thank you.) Fan community page

Whoops! I was trying to finish up an edit on my EarthBound fan community page just now on a separate tab I had on it since I saw you move it to my User Talk page; when I saved it on that tab, I accidentally recreated it again since that tab was created before you moved the page! I apologize; I did not mean to start an edit war. On a separate note, what would you like to discuss about the page? Thanks. NintenBOUND (talk) 18:57, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

No worries. Just keep further edits on user page. Again, I really do not think this is a page WikiBound should cover. It is non-official content with no plausible scope. The information on these projects is generally first-party only, not terribly significant, and is pretty subjective. Many of these could be reasonably bullet pointed in the series section, ROM Hacks/Games only would need to be notated that they do exist—since its not official releases, we shouldn't be specific about listing them. Merchandise tends to be its own independent page, and Petitions are effectively useless. I could be persuaded to keep pages on starmen.net or earthbound central, but again as non-official sources I'm skeptical to the merit of documenting them.
I'd consider keeping the following as some form of page or section in general:
  • Translations
  • Merchandise
  • Books
  • Documentaries

The End ... ?

Dear Trig Jegman (and to anyone else who knows me who happens to read this),

Due to personal reasons, I can no longer edit articles on this wiki. Therefore, I will be officially signing off after I post this, rendering my account usage completely inert. I will no longer be able to contact you on my talk page or yours, so our conversation activity on this wiki will be officially halted. However, if you still want to continue our discussions about our previous topics, like the Mother/Mother 2 models being made out of clay/paper clay/papier-mâché, or the design of my EarthBound fan community page (and whether it could become a main page), you can talk to me on my Proton account, which I will provide here: Nintendo4life101 (@) proton.me My WikiBound account will be still operable, though, providing that I should return to my account in the far future; this, however, is somewhat unlikely. In preparation of my departure, I have left instructions on some of the pages that I have worked on to make that page more in-depth than it already was; they should not be heeded if anyone has any problems with them.

Please understand: being a user on this wiki has been one of the best activities I have ever engaged in in recent times, as contributing my knowledge to a public wiki has been a personal pride and joy for me to do. I apologize if I have caused any major grievances or ill wills towards any users, as I never meant to do so; I am but a fledgling user (as I have had no prior experience), and my only wish was to make this wiki better than it already was. I thank all of you very much for taking the time to respond to my queries, and for having the patience to deal with me when I did something wrong or negative on this wiki. I wish you all the best, and I hope you are successful in all of your future endeavors and efforts. May the Lord be with you all.

(And Mr. Jegman, I'd still like to talk about some other stuff, including potentially adding this clip on YouTube onto this wiki, using images from the Mother to Earth documentary on this wiki, among other topics that may arise. If you decide to initiate conversation with me, I'd be more than glad to talk to you about all these things. Just so you know.)

See you in another life,

NintenBOUND NintenBOUND (talk) 16:40, 9 October 2023 (UTC)

Best of luck to you and thanks for the changes/updates. We hope to see you again. Trig - 17:40, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
