(Eye-eye-eye! This page needs images! I can't get Mother sprites without the hassle of getting the whole screen captured and cropping it. ^_^')

Crystal Cavern is a location in Mother. It serves as the only exit from Magicant back to America. Ninten first discovers Crystal Cavern in the outskirts of Magicant in an array of wells. The cavern itself is a small maze and is home to the Dragon. The Fish and the Forgotten Man.

Magicant Underground, also known as the Underground River (Japanese: 地下大河 Underground Stream) and often referred to as the Crystal Cavern by fans, is a location in Beginnings. It serves as the only exit from Magicant back to America. Ninten first discovers Magicant Underground in the outskirts of Magicant in an array of wells. The undeground itself is a small maze and is home to the Dragon, The Fish and the Forgotten Man. It has a total area of 6,026 square meters and a temperature of 16.5°C.

Layout
The top sections of Magicant Underground consist of several holes mostly leading to dead ends. Going down the holes in the order right, left, left, and finally right leads to the lowest floor. The bottom-most floir of Magicant Underground is a mostly linear maze, after entering the path turns right, then heads south making a u-turn. The path then splits into two: the right path leads to a hole where the Fish can be fought to access the Onyx Hook down a ladder. The left path leads to the Dragon where he can be fought once Ninten reaches a certain level, then he'll teach Ninten the sixth Melody.

The Forgotten Man blocks the exit to the real world on the first visit. He will disappear if the questions are answered correctly. If answered wrong he will stay until talked to a gain and answering the questions correctly.

In the original Famicom release of Mother the layout of the bottom-most floor of Magicant Underground is vastly different, being much less linear and much larger. The upper section is a simple path leading to the exit, while the lower half has many more paths that branch off to create a larger maze to reach the Dragon. Additionally if the Forgotten Man's questions are answered incorrectly he will warp Ninten back to the start of the maze, while in other versions Ninten will stay in the same place.
