Mr. Carpainter first appears when [[Ness]] comes to [[Happy Happy Village]]. He tells Ness about the village, and allows him to stay in it for $50. Another requirement is the conversion to Happy-happyism. Ness stays in his village for some time, until he finds Paula imprisoned in a house on the other side of the cave. She tells him that Mr. Carpainter imprisoned her in a prison in the house. He agrees to free her by getting the key from Carpainter. Mr. Carpainter can then be found in a building in the village, in a room after the one that contains a large amount of [[Insane Cultist|his followers]]. He must now be fought. After being defeated, Mr. Carpainter apologizes for his behavior. He explains that he acted the way he did because he was being controlled by the Mani-mani statue, which can be found behind him. At this point, he gives Ness the key and abolishes his religion. | ||
