Belch's Base is a location in EarthBound, found in Grapefruit Falls. It is the headquarters of Master Belch.

The base is a large factory where Master Belch and his minions created zombies, and sent them to invade the town of Threed. The Mr. Saturns are being held captive inside, forced to make Fly Honey for Master Belch. The factory visually resembles Sweet Little's Factory and Duncan's Factory in EarthBound Beginnings, furthermore the music in this location is a remix of the theme used for those factories.

Layout

The base can first only be accesed after recieving a password from a specific Mr. Saturn in Saturn Valley. The Mr. Saturn who explains how one must wait three minutes behind Grapefruit Falls to enter the base. After talking to the Mr. Saturn, Ness and co. must do exactly what he said: stand behind the waterfall, and when a voice says "Say the password", the player mustn't touch any buttons on the controller for three minutes in real time. After doing so, the Slimy Little Pile guarding the entrance will let Ness and co. in. This can only occur if Ness first speaks to the Mr. Saturn that reveals the "password"

The base itself is a large maze with many rooms, most rooms contain items or enemies. The path through the base is fairly linear, starting with the entrance up north then going east. Taking a ladder south, it continues going westward for the majority of the time. Near the end, the path goes south before west again, before reaching the end room where Master Belch is found. Once he is beaten, the exit is opened, which is a short cave leading back to Saturn Valley.

History

During the events of the game, the town of Threed was overrun by zombies, and many Mr. Saturn were missing. With the help of one Mr. Saturn, Ness enters the base to take on Master Belch, who is behind the recent happenings. Within the base, aside from enemies, are numerous Mr. Saturn enslaved by Master Belch, a minion of Giygas, to produce Fly Honey, Belch's absolute favorite food.

Ness and co. traverse the factory to find Master Belch to put an end to his schemes. At the end, the team find Master Belch, who taunts them before fighting. Ness, however, takes advantage of Belch's love for Fly Honey to defeat him. Once defeated, he tells the team about how the Mani-Mani Statue has wound up in Fourside, meaning Giygas's influence will take over the city. After Belch leaves, the factory ceases operation and Ness and the rest leave the factory exit. With Master Belch gone, the Mr. Saturn are released and return to Saturn Valley, and the city of Threed restored.
