Talk:Rosemary's house

Concerning the name

I'd just like to have the degree of officialness the name carries inspected. I assume that the current name, "Rosemary Manor", is derived from starmen.net's walkthrough; however, it is seemingly nonexistent in the game's text dump. The closest thing to an official name would I consider to be "Rosemary's house" (which it gets referred to in the item description of the Ghost House Key). It is otherwise just referred to as "ghost house" - even in the Encyclopedia (heh, which I might bring up a tad too often) - which I think would sound a bit too vague as a page name.

So yeah, thoughts? (Also, is the Japanese name authentic? I haven't really paid attention to the hypothetical name that is present in the Japanese game version (I'm really just wondering this as my encyclopedia copy disagreees with it)). ~ Sun Braid 09:10, 8 May 2011 (MDT)

Hmmm... well, this is what it says in Mother 1: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3784170/IMAG0326.jpg (ゆうれいやしきのカギ:ローズマリーさんの やしきの かぎです。). Which translates to "Haunted House key: The key to the Rosemary's mansion.". They used 'yashiki' which I'm pretty sure is more like mansions and larger estates, instead of just a house. (And it makes some degree of sense, too, seeing as the house is so huge, lol.) I'm not too sure about what's going on in the English version there (oh EB0, you and your localization...) but I figured I'd just put that out there. →Tinā δ 09:27, 8 May 2011 (MDT)
Oh, that is great! After making the comment, I quickly translated the Japanese name in the encyclopedia online, which ended up simply meaning "ghost house" or "haunted house" (hence why it is called "ghost house" during the part where it is written in latin letters in the encyclopedia, obviously). The Japanese name itself (from the encyclopedia, that is) is ゆうれいやしき yuureiyashiki, which is the exact same word that you also mentioned in the former part of the kana in your post. I'd anyways say that yours beats mine, as yours is from the item description which my name change proposal is from. So if the name would be changed to "Rosemary's house", then the page's Japanese counterpart would be from the exact same in-game context. (Hope I didn't formulate myself too vaguely now).
Edit: By the way, why does it say しゆうち shiyuuchi in the name translation section when your overall conclusion seemed to be やしき yashiki? #_# ~ Sun Braid 10:47, 8 May 2011 (MDT)
Yeah, the page name still needs to be changed, as Rosemary Manor still is an unofficial name. My vote goes to Rosemary's house (which I guess is rather apparent based on previous discussion). Any objections? Sun Braid 10:13, 18 July 2011 (EDT)
