Virtual Console re-release
On March 20, 2013, EarthBound was re-released in Japan for the Wii U Virtual Console. The re-release was highly publicized, with Shigesato Itoi himself doing a live stream of playing the game. The game was changed, but only a bit: A line of text in Burglin Park was slightly tweaked, and the PSI animations were softened to reduce the risk of seizures. The game was ultimately released for the Virtual Console in North America and Europe on July 18, 2013.

SF Memory release
Mother 2 was available 2 ways on the original Super Famicom in Japan! Of course it was released as a standard release, but it was also later available as a title that could be transferred on to the SF Memory Cassette! When you first bought the SF memory cassette it was basically a blank cartridge you then needed pay an additional fee to put a game on it! Once a game was on the cartridge you could use it as a regular SFC game, If you wanted to change the game that was on the cartridge you could simply take it to the store and get a new game for a cheaper fee than buying the game normally!

*EarthBound takes place in a fictional land called Eagleland. Many fans think this is a parody of America, but Shigesato Itoi stated that EarthBound is not neccesarily set in America. This is why party members like Poo seem to come from different cultures.
