My first exposure to the series was through ''[[Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U|Super Smash Bros. for Wii U]]'', which was actually my first exposure to most Nintendo franchises not called ''Mario'' or ''Pokémon''. Besides featuring [[Ness]] as a playable character (as well as [[Lucas]], via DLC), there was also a five-minute demo for ''[[EarthBound]]'' included. I played it, but it never really grabbed me at the time. My first real experience with the series was when I played ''[[EarthBound Beginnings]]'' on Switch in early 2023.
