Talk:List of key items in Mother

From WikiBound, your community-driven EarthBound/Mother wiki

Should this include the Memory Chip, which was one of the few additions to Mother 1+2 that was new even from the EB0 prototype? (Obviously no Mother Encyclopedia art for that, but still.) Miles (talk) 16:49, 21 May 2011 (MDT)

I guess that purely depends on how important its in-game role is. From what I quickly found through Google (which easily could be totally incorrect), its purpose seems to be teleporting the player to the remains of Eve; I'm not entirely sure of the meaningfulness of that function (the main advantage being to shorten the walking distance to Giegue's cave, if you'd happen to lose to him the first time). This, and the fact that it is a kind of obscure item, wouldn't make it all that farfetched to rather have it classified as a miscellaneous item. Aaand, while we're at it; wouldn't it be better to move the Telephone Card to the "miscellaneous items" category? You can completely avoid getting it, and I did honestly not even know of its existence until reading this article (shame, shame). Sun Braid 17:52, 21 May 2011 (MDT)
I see its role as completely comparable to the Onyx Hook. Where would you put that? Miles (talk) 18:01, 21 May 2011 (MDT)
Touché. The similarities are pretty obvious. I think my main way of reasoning there simply was based on the fact that the Onyx Hook is overall much more known, and eases the process of making it through the game a lot (but yes, is completely optional). The question is then if they should get mentioned here, or be moved to another list. Sun Braid 18:12, 21 May 2011 (MDT)

Ticket Stubs

Two things;

  • I think it would be better to separate the ticket stub part of this into an "Airplane" page, since the stub is just the item you get from riding it, so I don't think the Flightplan information should go there.
  • The Ticket Stubs are technically not required to finish the game, similarly to the Onyx Hook, so should we move them to Miscellaneous?
