Super Smash Bros. is a series of fighting video games in which Nintendo characters come together and battle each other. There are four games in the series: Super Smash Bros., Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. All four games star Ness, the star from the EarthBound game itself, while Super Smash Bros. Brawl stars Lucas from Mother 3, with Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U including Lucas as downloadable content.

In the third game in the series, released in January 2008 (Japan) and March 2008 (United States) after many delays. Players now can play as Lucas, who is a character available from the start. Ness is again unlockable, as he was in the original Super Smash Bros. game. This game is available to be played on the Nintendo Wii. It also featured the return of the Onett stage, under the Melee games category, as well as the introduction of the New Pork City stage. Said stage also features the Ultimate Chimera.

Subspace Emissary

The Subspace Emissary stars every playable character in the game, which includes Ness and Lucas. It also includes Porky as a boss, inside of a machine. Later, the three are seen in the Great Maze level.

Ness appears in the most recent Smash games, as an unlockable character in the 3DS version, and as a starter character in the Wii U version. Magicant appears as a stage in the 3DS version, with its design based on the Magicant from Mother, while Onett from Melee returns in the Wii U version. Jeff and Starman appear as Assist Trophies, and Lucas from Mother 3 has returned to this game as DLC on June 14, 2015.

  • Interestingly, every Super Smash Bros. game through Brawl can be played on the Wii, with the original being on Virtual Console, the second being a GameCube game, which can be played on earlier Wii models, and the third being released exclusively for the Wii.
