Plot
Mother 3 begins on Mt. Oriander on the Nowhere Islands with twins Lucas and Claus visiting their grandfather, Alec with their mother, Hinawa. Lucas wakes up in bed from Claus calling for him to play with the Dragos. Lucas goes out to play with his brother and the Dragos, when their mother calls them in for omelets. After feeding the boys, Hinawa writes and sends a letter home to her husband, Flint, who had to stay hhome in Tazmily Village to tend to the sheep.
Night of the Funeral
Later that night, in the Sunshine Forest, north of Tazmily, a strange group of men in Pigmasks set fire to the forest. The town goes into panic, with Thomas, the town firefighter goes for help. He goes to Flint, who is awaiting the arrival of his wife and children.
Thomas brings Flint and the family dog, Boney to the forest to help a father and son who live in a log cabin in the forest. They find Lighter, the father in front of the log cabin, injured. Thomas stays with Lighter while Flint goes to help his son, Fuel. They return to town to help the injured Lighter. While caring to him, rain starts and puts out the forest fire. Later in the night, Flint goes worrisome because Hinawa, Claus, and Lucas haven't returned. The town organizes a search party to find the three. After searching for awhile, Flint finds a piece of cloth the same color as Hinawa's dress. Wess, a town senior citizen, tells Flint that his son has mastered a technique allowing to scale cliffs and walls. Wess sends Boney off to find him. Boney drags the man back who introduces himself as Duster. He sets Wall Staples into the cliff side and the two climb to the top. Flint takes the cloth and him, Duster and Boney continue on the cliff. They see two Pigmasks working on a caribou with robotic parts. The three destroy the creature and chase after the two Pigmasks. They barely miss them as they take off in a giant ship. They head back down the cliff to an area now cleared off from a torn down tree. They continue to a campfire where Flint is informed that the children have been found safe and sound. Bronson, another villager comes back with good and bad news. The good news being that he found Hinawa. The bad news being he found a Drago fang pierced through her chest. Flint flies into a rage, hitting anyone who tries to calm him. He is then thrown in the village jail as the first prisoner ever in Tazmily.
