Project ideas

Other project ideas could be Project Enemies, or possibly something to do with the game's music (Music is a common theme throughout the series, and there's also a bunc.. ok 5 or so.. of albums)? Mechanics, as well, although I think that could be saved for when we have things set up a little more...

I keep wanting to do something with the game's extensive details on everything, too, but that's pretty much just trivia sections and not actual pages or anything. EB trivia is more like "did you know that there's a random black sesame seed in the Dusty Dunes Desert? 8D", though, leaning less from opinionated coincidences, so... gah I don't know. D: →Tinā δ 14:50, 27 September 2010 (MDT)

Project Enemies and Sanctuaries are ideas I have. Music could work, as names are provided in SSBB. Enemies, I really think could work. Mechanics I agree with maybe setting it up when we're more set up. As for other things, I don't know. Project PSI, NPCs, and Super Smash Bros. were among the ones I brainstormed, but I thought that they were too specific. NPCs is basically characters, PSI is basically attacks, and SSB doesn't really have that much EB coverage. A 14:58, 27 September 2010 (MDT)
Hmm... Project Sanctuaries I'm kind of iffy on, seeing as it could go under locations, and there's also the Eight Melodies from M1 and the Seven Needles from M3, too, which have very similar goals. I like Project PSI, though, thinking about it- there still needs to be a lot done on the articles, like adding enemies that use it, SSB info, more specific details, and so on.
I do really like the sound of Project Music, though- music is a large part of the games, and a lot of the songs are named (well... uh, save for EB, anyway. there's like 8 tracks that are named). Although obviously only the major songs would get their own articles - going just by name would be silly because literally every single song in M3 is named - there's still quite a bit to write about. :B
I kinda like the idea of SSB, though, since it's so different from the rest of the series, EB stuff being present in every game, and so on. Hrmm... →Tinā δ 15:19, 27 September 2010 (MDT)
So basically, these are the ones you think could be made:
  • Music
  • Maybe Sanctuaries/Eight Melodies/Seven Needles (Maybe Landmarks?)
  • SSB
  • PSI (Removal of ? in user page)
  • Enemies
All in all, these all could work. One thing I think could work but didn't put because it's major is Leaders. Should founders be given authority or should leaders be chosen to lead the project. In the latter, I think something like an activity check should be put each year or something like that. A 15:42, 27 September 2010 (MDT)
Hmm... actually, Project Landmarks sounds like a pretty good idea! Also, for Leaders... I like the idea of leaders being chosen over founders, personally. Since anyone can start the project to get it going, but if a project leader is chosen for their contributions and help with the projects, then that's a little better, in my opinion.
I'm not sure how the music articles will be formatted, though. I'll think about that later. XD; →Tinā δ 16:01, 27 September 2010 (MDT)
Okay then. I'm adding the above projects for right now. For leaders, I'll wait a little longer for other opinions. A 16:03, 27 September 2010 (MDT)

Leadership

Hey Turwig, have you decided how leadership of the projects would work? If not, may i recommend you watch/talk with TheSuperZeldaMan. He joined recently, and has expressed interest in becoming an admin. I said contribute for a while and we will see, but it dawned on me last night, with his experince and knowledge, he could be useful as a project leader. As coordinator of wiki projects, i thought i'd get your opinion on the matter. Tacopill 10:29, 13 October 2010 (MDT).

I haven't completely decided, but right now I'm leaning toward some sort of vote system used by the members to vote. Since there is no projects yet, resulting in their not being any members either, I think he could, though I do think I'd need to know which project he would like to lead. A 14:13, 13 October 2010 (MDT)
Sounds good. When i talk with him next, i will point him to this conversation. Tacopill 14:43, 13 October 2010 (MDT).
I haven't been able to contribute lately, but when all of these college dealings are over, I'll be all over this wiki. Here is my user page at Metroid Wiki if you'd like more information. - ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus)

Page

Do you want me to make a page for Project Enemies? RamblinEvilMushroom 22:41, 22 October 2010 (MDT)

Not yet, unless you want to create it at one of your user subpages. Right now, this is the draft for project articles. The colors should be changed for it though, as well as the things about what the project is about and the leader thing. A 15:37, 23 October 2010 (MDT)

Any ideas for backgrounds of the leader template and various projects? I've already got PSI figured out (F85888) , but the others I'm not sure. A 17:50, 2 October 2010 (MDT)

Hmm... I probably wouldn't put a background behind the entire page, but I'll come up with some colors for the projects we have planned so far if you'd like. :D Where would we be using them, though? On the project page, project notices, specific stub notices... hrm... where else?
Also, I like the idea of the featured stubs/wanted articles on the project page. It'd be nice to have the project page be a little more interactive rather than just a list of common templates/goals/members, so I like that. →Tinā δ 19:40, 2 October 2010 (MDT)
Backgrounds are completely optional. They are based on the member's vote, I guess. If there is a leader though, they would be the one who decided it.
I stole the featured stubs/wanted idea from Bulbapedia. Before them, I never though projects were that needed, as it's just a bunch of users and goals without them. The current idea is to keep them for a month or when they are created or unstubbed, whichever comes first. A 20:15, 2 October 2010 (MDT)
A bit late, but basically only on the main project page. The project/stub notices would probably have some different color. A 18:15, 22 October 2010 (MDT)

Post-merge discussion

Anything else

Since I've completed all I've wanted to do for the page, anyone else have any ideas for it before I bring up the subject of moving? A 16:06, 17 November 2010 (MST)

I'm not sure if we should have project leaders just yet-- meaning the ones we have picked out for Enemies/SSB, since that's not fair to the other members who gotta wait a month of voting and a decision between the staff. Otherwise, I can't really think of anything else!
For projects themselves, we should get around to making page outlines for how pages should be formatted, too. →Tinā δ 16:24, 17 November 2010 (MST)
Sorry about the SSB thing. I meant to remove myself. I guess I should remove his name for Enemies because it is currently the most focused aspect of the wiki. Sorry RamblinEvilMushroom.
Page outline for the actual project pages has, for the most part, been decided. I just forgot to create a draft page of Project Enemies. Starting that now. A 18:17, 17 November 2010 (MST)
