This article is about the character statistics. For status problems, see Status ailments.

A list of statistics in the Mother series.

Experience

Experience determines the current level a character is at.

HP

A rolling HP counter.

HP (short for Hit Point) is a character's health. When HP reaches 0, a character will become unconscious. In EarthBound and Mother 3, it is represented by a rolling counter, and if a character takes enough damage to lower their HP to 0, they will not become unconscious until it reaches zero. If the battle is finished before the counter reaches zero, the character's HP will remain at whatever number it was when the battle was completed.

PP

PP (short for Psychic Point) determines a character's ability to use PSI.

Offense

Offense determines how much damage a character will do with a physical attack.

Defense

Defense determines how much damage will be taken when receiving an attack.

Guts

Guts determines the chance of getting a Smash!.png hit, and protects characters from receiving mortal damage occasionally.

IQ

IQ determines the amount of damage a PSI attack deals. In EarthBound, a large amount of items that can be obtained are broken, rendering them useless. Jeff can repair these objects when resting at a hotel or a similar location, and the types of items he can repair depend on how high this statistic is.

Speed

Speed determines the turn order in battles, as well as the rate of dodging an enemy attack in Mother 3.

Luck

Luck raises chances of dodging an attack.

Vitality/Strength

Vitality and Strength raise the amount of HP gain on level up. Vitality also decreases the chance of status ailments on the character.

Fight

Fight is only present in Mother. It lowers the chance of an enemy getting a Smash!.png hit, while raising the chance of the character getting one.

Force

Force is only present in Mother. It raises the amount of PP gain on level up. It also decreases the chance of status ailments on the character.
