Laura is a character in Mother, being a canary. She resides in the northern portion of Canary Village, just outside of the brick wall surrounding the village, and can only be reached by going through a hidden entrance behind the only silver-colored spire. When Ninten gives the Canary Chick to her, she rejoices by the reunion and sings the second melody as a result of it. Laura's Forest, which lies to the east of Canary Village, is likely named after her.

For clarity, the player cannot name a character Laura.
